EUROPEAN COOKING - A WHISTLE STOP TOUR!

Discover a selection from the myriad of flavours of Europe, through some of its varied cooking styles. This course stops in France, Portugal, Czech Republic / Slovakia, and Hungary (one class on each cuisine). The recipes have been designed for the student budget and with a home kitchen in mind. You will work in groups and eat together at the end. The Instructor Zuzana Blazov Tichy was brought up in Slovakia, and has passion for cooking food and for passing these skills on to others. So get on board, have a giggle, and get cooking.

INDIAN COOKING

Make delicious meals that are easy to cook, free of artificial flavours and preservatives and easy to digest. Synchronise Indian cooking techniques, learn about various spices, their aromatic taste, smell and fragrances, and different methods of using them. Learn the names of different ingredients (to make it easier to buy ingredients in the future) and about different types of Indian breads and their combination with different curries.

When: July 25th - August 15th, 2017 [4 sessions: Tuesdays 5:00 - 7:30pm]

INTRODUCTION TO ESPRESSO COFFEE MAKING

This course is offered in conjunction with the Common Ground Espresso. Introduction to Espresso is a productive and interesting course that offers hands on learning for all participants. We limit numbers to four students in order to maximise value for all involved. Over the three-hour session students will cover the Common Ground training goals. These goals are to understand Coffee Heritage, demonstrate Knowledge of Espresso Hardware, demonstrate Knowledge of Coffee Roasting Process and prepare and Present Espresso Coffee. These goals aim to combine knowledge of coffee heritage and espresso hardware with practical coffee training. Students will have the opportunity to observe a coffee bean roast and develop an overall understanding of espresso coffee from bean to cup. A certificate is provided at the end of the course however it is not accredited.

Come and learn the techniques and the secrets to bring authentic Italian flavours to your table. Enjoy making and eating everyone’s favourite classics and discover some new ones too. This course aims to make the best of ingredients easily available in New Zealand and is tailored to a student budget and a standard home kitchen.

During our popular Middle Eastern cooking class, you will enjoy learning about the soft spices and fragrant aromas of the Middle East. You will learn new techniques and lots of recipes ranging from starters, to mains to sweets. Your facilitator is Middle Eastern born so you know everything will be authentic and most importantly tasty! This is an interactive course so you’ll be able to get hands deep in creating your dishes.
